Description
INSTRUCTIONS: PLEASE READ LAB MANUAL AND GUIDELINES CAREFULLY BEFORE BEGINNING: Using the two provided videos, and the pdf of the lab manual, please create a pre-lab report. You can use online scholarly sources as well, but a big majority of your work should come from the videos and the lab manual, especially in the background and procedure procedures (refer to guideline provided below). Please source your work as well. FYI, the pre-lab questions are at the bottom of the lab manual PDF. Once you have accepted the assignment, I’ll provide samples of how the pre-lab should look. PLEASE DO NOT USE AI TO COMPLETE ASSIGNMENT. SOURCE ALL YOUR WORK FOR PLAGIARISM SAFETY.

GUIDELINE:
PURPOSE
This is a summary of the BACKGOUND below: this should be a single paragraph of several lines stating the names of the reagents, (i.e., reactants, products and solvents) that are involved, the reaction type (i.e. dehydration), the theoretical principle/s (i.e. nucleophilic substitution) and the major experimental technique/s used (i.e. refluxing, distillation, recrystallization etc) in synthesizing, purifying and analyzing the product.
BACKGROUND
This is an expansion of the purpose above: explain in detail, in several paragraphs on the major experimental and theoretical principles pertaining to this experiment. Incorporate (do not list) definitions of all key terms.
REACTIONS AND MECHANISMS
Write the full reaction/s using the structure of the reactants and products, the solvent and the conditions, (temperature and/or catalyst written over the reaction arrow) as well as any known mechanism/s. You may wish to use software (i.e. CHEMSKETCH) to type your chemical structures but you may also sketch them by handwriting, take a picture of them and insert them in this section of your typed document.
TABLE OF CHEMICALS
Include all those that may apply, in a table format: Compound Name & Structure; Molecular Formula & Molar Mass; Physical Properties (Density, Melting Point, Boiling Point, Solubility, Refractive Index, color, smell); Chemical Properties & Safety; Health Hazards
APPARATUS SETUP
Insert a sketch of the experimental apparatus/i as you plan to assemble it/them in the lab. This may be hand-drawn (and then inserted as a picture) or it can be copied and pasted from the internet.
