Description
Chapter 2 of your textbook discusses many different transgender communities around the globe. Here are several internet links that I have found useful in understanding more about these (and other) communities. While you don’t have to watch or research all of these, pick two to look into more closely. You can use my links here to get started and/or do your own internet searching. After learning more, answer the 5 questions below and post your responses.

1) Tell us a little about two of the communities that you looked into, including their name and place.
2) What did you find most interesting, important, surprising, or confusing about what you learned about each community?
3) How does each community describe their relationship to the larger culture?
4) Compare and contrast how each community defines identity and gender? What symbols of gender do they use? Or how do they “do gender”?
5) Find a 30 second to one minute clip that would be important for your classmates to see. This clip would illuminate something about the group itself or about gender more broadly. Give us a link and write down the time stamp here so that we can easily locate it.
Responding to Class Discussions
You will need to reply to two classmates. Your responses to your classmates must be at least 100 words each (total of 200 words or more) for full credit. In your response, you should
1) provide an analysis and/or evaluation of the post
2) show an appreciation or interested commentary on the ideas presented in the post
3) compare or contrast your own response to theirs
