Pitch Assignment
In this assignment, you will write a pitch letter to a journalist/reporter trying to persuade a news outlet (radio, TV, magazine or newspaper) to cover a story about the International Photography Competition held by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development (MCKD) in the UAE. The theme of the photography competition is Unforgettable Moments.
Take yourself as a media specialist who is working at the MCKD. Choose one media you believe would be interested in the story and that will reach key publics with the story. You are allowed to create some information of the story in this assignment.
Instructions:
Address your letter to a particular person.
The letter formatting should be strictly followed
Follow the format with 4 parts:
Hook: what’s the fascinating story
Purpose: Make sure you say why you are pitching this story to this particular publication/media outlet. Explain why this story would be of interest to their audience
State the term of your offer (what are you asking them to do and what they get in return)
Call for action: explain the next steps
You are allowed to check the examples and materials on Blackboard to make sure the format and structure are appropriate
