Description
Background about me: I moved to the U.S. from Iran at the age of 13, and since English was my second language, the transition was challenging. After starting at community college, I transferred to the University of Virginia, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. My dream of becoming a doctor, which began in childhood, only grew stronger as I matured. I developed a particular interest in dermatology, fueled by my personal experiences with acne and the two courses of Accutane I underwent. This passion for skincare led me to shadow a family medicine doctor during a winter break in college, and after graduation, I began working as a medical assistant in a dermatology office. Over the past year, I have continued to work there, recently earning a promotion to lead medical assistant.
