In Chapter 13 of your text, you are introduced to the concept of followership. It is a complementary theory to leadership theories and looks at the leadership process from a different viewpoint. This theory posits that followers play just as important a role in achieving team goals as the leaders do. However, it requires courage on the part of the followers to be more proactive in the process.
Proactive followers should do two things:
They should support the leader.
They should challenge the leader’s behaviors and policies.

In Chapter 13 of your text, you learn about the process called “Reversing the Lens.” Most leadership theories and models consider how the leader impacts their followers. In this approach, you look at how the followers affect the leader and the organizational outcomes. The emphasis is placed on the role of followers as change agents.
