Chapter/Title: CH 2: The Nuts and Bolts of Observation
Step 1. Report “Just the Facts” – Select 15-20 facts from the reading material that were useful in understanding key concepts related to early care and education, child development theories, vital statistics, milestones, core principles, and ethical practices for intentional teachers. Step 2. Connect to the Text: Find a passage that really stood out to you from the reading material. Copy and paste the entire passage here in Step 2. Then, you can use Step 3 to discuss your perspective – or reasons why you selected the passage.
Step 3: Express Yourself: In your own words, write a concise – yet informative and detailed paragraph (about 10 – 15 sentences) about what you learned from the reading material. SELECT ONE (1) OF THE OPTIONS BELOW to express your thoughts and ideas
Option 1: “A-HA” – discuss what you found interesting, or inspiring, and share what you learned
Option 2: “HMMMM” – discuss what you didn’t agree with or express what didn’t understand
Option 3: “Personal Experience” Reflect on your own development and personal experiences. Share how you can APPLY the information, or share any experiences you have had as related to the topic.
OPTIONAL STEP: Create 1 QUIZ QUESTION using the information you reviewed in the reading material. You can create a True / False or Multiple Choice question.
