Hum 155

Description

Students will create their own myth, legend, folklore, or fairytale and connect it to class content and themes. Possible themes/content include, but are not limited to philosophy, religious thought, psychology, creative arts, literature, politics, sexuality, gender, lifespan, age, consciousness, afterlife, religion, love, empires, etc.
Students will construct their own creative short story based on relevant themes, 2-3 pages in length. Students will then analyze their own short story using two secondary sources and connect their writing to relevant themes and topics as discussed throughout the term, 2-3 pages in length. The total paper will be about 5-6 pages in length.
For your topic submission: Please submit here by clicking ‘Start Assignment’ by Sept 1 11:59 pm.
The topic submission is just to get a central idea of how you want to construct your story. I do not expect a thesis statement, instead, let me help you get started. Send me your thoughts, what themes (see above or propose another) you may be interested in, and what type of story are you looking to create, such as myth, legend, folklore, fairytale, or other.
The secondary sources will consist of an outside source, and one of the readings from the course. We will speak about sources closer to your deadline date for your outline, Oct. 15.  Remember you will need to analyze your own story in the second half of the paper. Take this into consideration when starting to think about what you want to write.
