History Question

Description

Deadline and Assignment Description
For this paper, you will analyze the Cumfer article linked in the weekly module.
Paper Content
Your paper should include a reflection on the reading for the week, including a clear statement of thesis. Be sure that as you write your reflection, you provide appropriately cited examples and evidence from the Cumfer article. It may also be helpful to incorporate details from the textbook, depending on your focus.
As you decide on your paper’s focus, it may be helpful to think about one of the following questions, though you should in no way feel limited to discussing these points.
What point did you find most interesting in the reading?

How does this reading change or expand your understanding of Tennessee History?

??How does this reading relate to the narratives in Tennesseans and Their History?
?What is the author arguing in this piece? What evidence do they use to support this thesis? How effective was the presentation of the author’s thesis?

Grading of Reflections
Your paper will be graded using the rubric linked to the assignment.

Requirements for Writing Strong and Effective Scholarly
Reflection
??Your paper needs to have a clearly expressed thesis your argument about the topic or readings.
??Your paper needs to be carefully proofread to eliminate grammar and mechanical errors.
??Your paper must include specific details and examples from the readings to support each point you articulate. This evidence protects you from presenting an opinion rather than advancing a thesis. An opinion is an unsupported argument based on feelings or personal experience. A thesis is a supported argument that is based on evidence.

??You need to analyze every detail and example that you use.
Do not assume that others will interpret evidence in the same way that you do.
??Remember to cite the source of all specific information. In this class, the author’s last name and the page number in parenthesis at the end of the sentence is a sufficient citation.
