ECON 680 Economics Capstone Seminar: Assignment 2.1: Research Prospectus
Your Task:
Research Prospectus and submit your research prospectus or mini proposal.
Your prospectus should contain as clear a picture as possible of the question you are asking, why it is interesting, why you have a chance of contributing something new. Your prospectus should also tell as much as you can at this point about how you intend to do your research.
Your prospectus will include:
Introduction: Describe the context of your paper. You may want to use an example or two to show the importance of your topic. Then, move to the details of your paper. Conclude the introduction by writing your hypothesis as well as the reason for the direction of causality.
Literature Review: Based on the papers reviewed to date, explain the current state of the literature. In doing so, explain the the economic theory that underpins your project. Also, detail some of the key empirical papers written on the subject. You need to cite at least 2 to 3 papers.
Data: What data do you plan to use. What are the data sources?
Method of research: Explain how you plan to do your research. You can be general at this stage. However, the more specific you are, the more comments, we can provide on your paper.
