CJA 4220: Community Relations and Critical Issues

Description

Step #1 – Project Topic, Subtopics, and Title Consider an area you have an interest in. When you find a topic that is of interest and has at least 10 scholarly articles on the topic, you may choose that topic. Hint: The topic needs to be directly related to Community Relations or Critical Issues. In other words, you are NOT writing about criminology (sex traffickers), victims (domestic abuse), criminal psychology, or other justice-related topics. The topic MUST be geared toward and about the issues surrounding policing in a community or critical issues. The number of subtopics will vary, and you may have between 3 and 5. Subtopics will become vital as you complete this project and should be the basis for each heading. See (below) for an example of subtopics.Identify the working title of your poster. The title should identify the main ideas in your research and be self-explanatory, meaning by looking at the topic, someone can identify many of the sub-topics you are likely to cover. Example:Title: Communicating with or to the community:Topic: An Examination of Police Communication with the CommunitySubtopics: 1 – What is police-community relations? 2 – A failure to communicate 3 – How police should communicate with the community 4 – Strategies for enhancing two-way communication with the public
